Smt. Subhasree Majumdar
Hailing from a family of music lovers, Smt. Subhasree Majumdar got her early training in music from her maternal grandmother Late Smt. Kana Dutta at a tender age of 3. Seeing her interest in music, her parents decided to get her formal training at a young age of 6 and her musical journey started from there.
After getting training as a kid for some years, from Late Shri Panchu Gopal Mukherjee (Prof. of music, at Bengal Music College,Kolkata), Smt. Subhasree Majumdar started her formal training in Hindustani Classical music (Vocal) under Smt. Anita Majumdar who is a direct disciple of Late Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan and Late Shri Jatileswar Mukhopadhyay.
After having rigorous training under her supervision, Smt. Subhasree Majumdar achieved the prestigious Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad, (under Allahabad Gharana) and continued her training with her mentor even after achieving the degree.
She continued her training as a ‘gandabandha shishya’ of revered Smt. Prabhati Mukherjee , under Patiala Gharana ,who is a direct disciple of Late Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan and Late Begum Akhtarji. Smt. Subhasree Majumdar has performed in various sabhas in India and USA.
She is a licensed examiner of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal in Hindustani Classical music (Vocal).
