Carnatic Vocal Workshop
We at The Raaga School of Music strongly believe in sustaining the rich Indian cultural and musical tradition by teaching and nurturing the next generation of artists and musicians. We seek to transform our students' passion in Carnatic and Hindustani Music into a lifelong journey of reward and fulfillment through our well experienced, professional Gurus who are also torch bearers of upholding Indian cultural heritage especially in Music. Transforming every stone into a milestone for our students and teachers is our important one of the many principles.
We recently held a Carnatic Vocal workshop conducted by widely renown Guru Smt. NCS Ravali. Nearly 65 students and their families participated. Smt. Ravali covered topics ranging from the history of Carnatic Music and explaining the differences between Abhyasa Gana and Sabha Gana to describing tools for effective learning that included resources such as recording lessons and books and parent involvement for recording student practices and keeping a log book.
We also had a very highly interactive Q&A session where Smt. Ravali answered questions ranging from the best practices to Ragas itself talk about the efficacy of the workshop. The huge response of the participants awaiting the next workshop is an evidence for the success of the workshop.
As an institution, we make use of every opportunity to leverage our resources to provide a great learning experience for all of our students. Deeply rooted into the values of our rich cultural heritage, we take Music in the form and way accessible to all age groups and learners through Technology. We are a one stop school where musical aspirants of all kinds ranging from 4.5 years old to 50 years join us to pursue their passion. Students learn online and in person at our 4 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our Students are the central focus of the school. We strive for their progressive development in their musical journey. Along those lines, the school proudly announces that there will be short video clips of our young budding talents showcasing their learning through their mellifluous singing or playing different instruments they are learning here. Stay tuned to our YouTube page to watch their performances.
This insightful first workshop has now paved the way for upcoming workshops. And, we are happy to announce that we have planned a workshop on Carnatic Flute by Sri. Kalyan Raman Garu, an excellent Flautist, a professional performer, a Carnatic Vocal Guru. We look forward to having large participation and a more active interaction with the participants.
